About

I'm Jason.

My professional career path has followed a unique winding path through healthcare, creative, and tech and my educational journey has been just as unorthodox, covering journalism, photography, anthropology, communications, and design.

With nearly 20 years in the field, I've learned that the real leverage in any organization isn't in the execution, but rather the conditions you create for others to succeed. But when it comes to balancing business priorities, it can become difficult for a good leader to also be a good manager. The best leaders I've seen build something real that outlasts the org chart. They cultivate talent, encourage risk, and reward integrity even if it means outgrowing roles and moving on.

These days I find myself knee- deep in the UX of enterprise AI. Nearly all sectors are shifting the plans, priorities, and positions in response to rapidly evolving new opportunities and the practice of design is certainly no different. The key to keeping teams sustainably productive is to hold a tight focus on the fundamentals: At the end of the day, everything we do is in service of other people. No matter the complexity or ambiguity of our tools, methods, and products there sits a person on the other side of the screen who wants to finish their task and go home in time for soccer practice.

Remember, there is no such thing as a design emergency
